A compact Arctic field day built around crew knowledge, king crab gear and the unpredictable life of the Finnmark coast.
Guests may help retrieve gear only when invited, wearing supplied safety equipment and following crew instructions. Route, participation, catch and tasting vary with sea state, regulations and operations.

Harbour briefing
Meet the crew, check layers and flotation gear, review hand signals and understand the skipper’s weather decision.
Run to the grounds
Track the coastline from Vardø while the crew explains currents, working gear and how king crab changed northern fisheries.
At the gear
Observe retrieval up close. Hands-on participation may be offered case by case; safety and commercial operations come first.
Cook & gather
When catch and logistics allow, taste simply prepared crab. A substitute local tasting should be agreed before launch for no-catch days.

Bird cliffs & outer coast
On suitable departures, the route may open toward Hornøya and exposed coastal viewpoints.
Nesting seabirds are seasonal. All wildlife viewing is kept at a respectful distance and remains opportunistic.
